All public-school admissions in Moscow run through the city portal mos.ru. Below is a quick map of the four most common paths into School No. 1517.
Submit an application on mos.ru during the official admissions period (typically opens 1 April). Priority is given to students residing in the school’s territorial catchment area and to applicants with siblings already enrolled.
Documents: parent/guardian passport, child’s birth certificate, registration confirmation at the address.
Transfers are accepted year-round, subject to vacant places. The list of vacant places per grade is published on the original Russian site under Information about the educational organisation → Vacant places.
Documents: parent passport, child’s birth certificate or passport (from age 14), report card / personal record from the previous school, registration confirmation.
Admission to the pre-professional tracks (engineering, IT, medical, entrepreneurship, media, cadet) is competitive. Applicants take diagnostic exams in the core subjects of the chosen track, organised by the Moscow Centre for Pedagogical Excellence.
Diagnostic subjects: mathematics + the profile subject (e.g. physics for engineering, biology/chemistry for medical, computer science for IT).
Places in the kindergarten section are allocated through the city pre-school registry on mos.ru. After receiving an electronic referral, parents finalise enrolment in person at the school.
